Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux is a very recent appellation for red wines covering 1,000 ha around the town of the same name which lies 45km south of Bordeaux city on the Garonne River. The wines produced on a special combination of chalk and gravel on these west-facing slopes are now distinguishable from the broader AOC Côtes de Bordeaux into which they previously fell.
The sweet white wines that have been made for many years under the separate AOC Cadillac, are on a similar quality level to Loupiac and Ste Croix du Mont but considerably below the finesse of Sauternes and Barsac which lie just across the river.
