Château Grand Launay
AOC Côtes de Bourg
Pierre-Henri Cosyns is a quiet and affable engineer-turned-vigneron. The cartoon on this page gives you an idea to the kind of character he is. After his studies he began his technical career in public development projects but after a decade or so decided to return home to Bourg and take over running the family winery. He is a big fan of ecology and sustainable development (something which he says had a strong influence on his career change) and has converted his entire production to organic. Like many of our producers, he burns the candle at both ends as he is fully involved in working his 28 hectares, producing the wine and selling it, travelling regularly to national and international shows to get the name of Grand Launay out there.
As a result his wines sell very well, so much that we only offer one of his range of five wines. The Réserve Lion Noir from Château Grand Launay is a barrel-aged blend of mostly Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc. Deeply coloured, richly textured and generously structured, it is a wine that complements perfectly the meats and game of southwest French cuisine.
